Chronic pain in the body is a heavy burden to bear. Whether it is caused by Multiple Sclerosis, Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, Lupus or any number of other illnesses, chronic pain depletes an individual of energy, limits their daily activities, and can lead to feelings of depression. The individual who is suffering with chronic pain often has a lot of different doctors and may feel that talking to someone else is not necessary. Counseling is a place to find understanding and support as well as a safe place to express oneself without fear of being judged or criticized. You can learn wellness strategies and coping skills that your physician does not have the time or the training to teach you. You may not be able to eliminate the source of your chronic pain, but you can bring the level of your pain down considerably by regular counseling and practicing the relaxation and deep breathing techniques you will learn.
